Find and use apps
You can find the applications and use them in Teams chats, channels, and meetings in the Microsoft app. You may see the application in several places depending on the feature, what they do and how they work.
Applications in tabs
- These applications can be used in channels or chats.
- You can use the command select to add an item by using the plus sign at the top of a Chat or Chanel.
- You can search for apps and select the app, which you want to add.
- Next, you can add some information if you want and hit Save.
- The application will start appearing at the top of the chat or channel.
Applications in messages
- To start the new conversation, select the new conversation available under the message box, then select an app to use it.
- If you don’t see the application you want to use, you can select more options button, and find the app, then select Add.
Applications as Connectors
Connectors are applications, which send information and notifications to the channel. Below are the steps to add a connector:
- First, go to the channel you prefer, then select More options button > Connectors, then choose an application. After finishing this step, you’ll be prompted to add service, and then you can configure the notifications for applications used outside a team, channel, or chat.
- Now, select more added apps and more options buttons and choose an application.
It will give a view of all your information in that application from across Microsoft Teams.
All apps
- If you are looking for all applications, follow these steps:
- Select the Apps Store button on the left side of Teams to search
- Browse for applications available to your team or organization.
- Discover the new applications based on the categories.
NOTE: Some apps need subscriptions or Register/Signing-in to validate the users.
Apps in meetings
- Add an app to a scheduled meeting to enhance how your work and collaborate with your team.
- Before a scheduled meeting starts, open the calendar invite and select the Select to add an item. Plus, sign at the top of it.
- Choose an app and select Add.
- During the meeting, view content with your attendees and gather information from your added app.
- Apps stay as tabs in your invite, so you can get to them any time after a meeting.
Use the command box
Wherever launch the Microsoft Teams application, you can probably notice the command box at the top of your screen, which helps you to search, take some quick actions, and launch the apps.
Use the command box to search
- You can type what in the command box, whatever you are looking for. For example, message, channel, Person or file.
- No, select one of the results from the given list.
- Next, press Enter if you want to see some more results.
- You can also use the slash commands to perform any task.
- In the command box, type a/, it will display a list of commands and the descriptions.
- Here, you can choose a command from the list; alternatively, you can type it.
If you want to check out Available commands to see a list of commands, you can just type/to see the menu in the command box.
Use of the @ command
- Type @[someone’s name], then press Tab and then type a message if you want to message someone without even moving away from what you were working on.
- Type @[app name] to launch an application directly from the command box.
